Amazingly we are winding down on Tuesday and we are all still doing well. Iain has started to settle into a routine, and Melissa and I are trying our best to accommodate that routine. We were fortunate to have read a ton of books before Iain arrived, and thus far at least, we have had everything on hand that we needed.
The cats seem to be adjusted to Iain’s presence, and seem to be handling the situation well. Kramer is the most concerned about Iain, in a good way, and usually comes to investigate when he cries. Speaking of crying, the little guy sure can belt out some good ones, but in general he will stop when you pick him up…or when mom feeds him.
I will post later about the things that were most surprising/shocking to me in having a new baby. Some are good, some are bad, but I wanted to mention the biggest surprise. Baby poop, in the first 2 or 3 days is VERY sticky. It does not really smell, but man is it a pain to clean up. I a pretty sure that it could be used as an industrial adhesive. You just might be able to replace those 6″ bolts on the Ford F150 (you know the commercial..with the truck hanging above the engineers head by the bolts) with some of this stuff and get just as good a bond. I am MUCH happier now that he has moved onto normal smelly baby poop, at least it cleans up easy.
Here are a couple of pictures from the past 2 days.
This one is a quick shot of one of the outfits Iain’s aunt bought for him. You can also see his Graco Pack N Play (which serves as bassinet and changing table in our room).

Here is a quick shot of Iain in his sleep sack. Might be a bit to warm for him though.

We went out today to follow up on breastfeeding, and Iain came along. He slept from the moment we put him in the car seat till the moment we got home. What a stud.

Kramer always investigates when he hears crying.
