Happy Birthday Recap

Yesterday we celebrated Iain’s first birthday.  Birthday celebrations included a pancake breakfast, a trip to the musuem to see the butterflies.  We also went to see an IMAX movie, which Iain seemed to enjoy before he decided to nap.  Rain took away our chance to go to the pool, we will do that today.  We were able to have our planned dinner of hot dogs and tator tots.  Iain will pretty much eat anything you put on his tray, and hot dogs and tator tots are no exception.  He powered through dinner and then moved on to cake.  Melissa made a very yummy bananna cake, which Iain liked a lot.  We have some very good video of him having cake.   We gave both grandmothers a call before we started singing happy birthday.

After cake we moved on to opening presents and playing with new toys.  Iain got a popcorn popper (the push toy, not the small appliance), some weebles, a toy that has spinning gears, some mega blocks and a couple of puzzles.  One of the puzzles and a nice shirt arrived Friday from Iain’s aunt and Uncle.  I think Iain had a good time.  He was certainly worn out.  He napped well and went to bed early.

He had a party at day care on friday afternoon, we brought in some cupcakes.  We are also planning on a party tomorrow at my work.  Three parties should be enough for the little man.  We head out to Disney World on the 15th for the last part of Iain’s first year celebration.  We found out at the IMAX yesterday that he can sleep in a theater, even with lots of people around and loud noises.  Good news for our Disney plans.

One other big change is that Iain gets to sit facing forward in his car seat. Iain thought that was pretty cool yesterday. I guess it is time to get a DVD system in the car.

You can take a look at all of the pictures from the festivities on Flickr.
