Here is a picture of Fiona trying out Iain’s newly remodeled bed. In addition to the removal of the front of the crib, he also has some new sheets. He slept in the bed last night without any incident or apparent discomfort at the change.
We will look to get him a full size bed in a few months.
Iain was enjoying some of his new books so much, and reading so well that I thought I had better get some video. Here is a short 3 minute video of him reading, and discovering that he is being recorded. Good chance to hear him talk if you have not heard him before.
Iain is sleeping in his crib, but with the front of the crib removed. Basically it is an intermediary day bed. A little something to get used to the freedom of a big bed, before actually making the move. Pictures will be available later.
Iain went in for a Dr. checkup the other day and demonstrated the meaning of terrible two’s. He was terrible, flopping around and screaming like…well…a baby. That was a fun. We decided to take him in for a haircut yesterday, which he has never really liked all that much, and he had another tantrum, this time because we would not let him just play with the Thomas train stuff in the lobby the whole time. But his haircut does look very nice.
Baseball is still his new big thing, he actually asks to watch it on TV now. Weird. We play quite a bit of baseball both inside and out, and Iain loves to run the bases.
No new pictures yet, but we should have some posted soon.
We had hamburgers last night, Iain had some ketchup with his. He didn’t use it all for his burger, so he just ate the rest with his spoon. Then he started eating his green beans, and needed more ketchup to dip the beans in…at least he ate his beans.
Iain underwent surgery on Monday the 13th to have tubes inserted in both ears. Everyone was a bit nervous, I think Iain was confused why he got into the car and went somewhere in his pj’s.
We are almost a week out from the surgery and Iain is doing better than ever. His interest in eating has more than doubled. It seems obvious now that he must have nearly always had a bit of pressure, and that the tubes are working as expected.
Iain turns two today. I would say that it is hard to believe that he is two already, but it does feel like it has been two years.
Iain’s weekend of birthday festivities started on Friday with some cake at school. We had a quarter sheet cake made in a Clifford theme, and joined Iain and his class for lunch. Apparently, Iain is not a fan of the Happy Birthday song, because he started crying as soon as we started singing. Luckily, the tears dried up fast enough for us to blow out the candles and eat cake. Anytime you get kids and frosting together there is sure to be a mess, and we did see plenty of kids with blue tongues and blue fingers.
Aunt Danielle arrived Friday afternoon, and we had dinner at one of Iain’s favorite restaurants before returning home to watch some Backyardigans and play some baseball.
Saturday started off with a trip to Sea Center Texas. Iain got out to run around, and got to check in on Gordon the Grouper, which he enjoys. After nap and some left over cake for lunch, we headed out to Toys R Us to get a couple extra presents. He really didn’t need any more, but he is pretty spoiled. Then we went to Target to grab some supplies. Rain had moved out of the area, and we decided to take a stab at visiting the pool. The weather held out long enough for us to spend a good hour in the water. Iain proved that he is getting older and bolder by walking in the shallow water, swimming a bit, jumping off the ledge into the pool, and generally not caring that he was getting dunked. Some quick showers and we were off to Jake’s for dinner. Iain had hot dogs, fries, and a bit of applesauce for dinner. Finally, it was back home for a late story and bedtime. I wonder what is in store for Sunday.
I really need to record his voice when he says stuff like this. Took some good naked pictures of him with a big football tonight. He was running around the house with the ball trying to avoid taking a bath.
